5 Ways to Take Your Business from Zero to Hero
1. Curate you online presence, don’t leave it up to the whims of net denizens to represent your business. Show them your business in an honest light and they will confirm it. You have to be present to win and if you are not online you are likely running on borrowed time.
2. Build up your business’s social media get on Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, encourage your teammates to like and subscribe to your channel after you have put up some content and then post content every day, yes post something on your social media daily. For most business Facebook and LinkedIn are a must. With LinkedIn you may want to invite your employees to mark that they work for you. It boosts your relevancy and also exposes your company to their networks.
3. Take and post actual pictures of you and your company. Do not be afraid to post something that is less than perfect. Being honest and yes even human builds trust as when we are vulnerable, we can connect especially in a world filled with advertising with super models and Photoshop, and well people need real people. Show your team members (with their permission) do little stories about them and about you. What is your business, what do you do, how do you do it, and who are the people that work there? If you answer even some of these questions you will be off to a good start! Maybe have a photo contest where people can show off your products people do not have to have a prize (although they do love prizes) recognition is a prize that does not cost cash. Try different things and always promote your business. You want it to grow! Find ways to enable users to promote your business for you!
4. Write, blog, talk about who you are by building content. What is your company’s history? Why did you start doing this? What are your company’s competencies? What is your team like? You can walk potential customers through the process of initiating business with you and through various steps to show them what it is like. Walk them through the hard work you and your team put into your work, into the customer. Show them how much work you put into them! People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. Show them your care, you are a human and you recognize that and you will treat them with respect, they can relate and appreciate that.
5. Video especially live video. Yes, people love to experience cars before they drive them and business before they chose to do business. With video, especially live video you can really break the ice and make people see who you are and the beauty of it is that you can meet with tons of people all at once. Live stream about you, your business. Even just talking with people you can build trust just by showing that you are a real live person, not some robot or program, but a human being just like them. You can post your live streams from Facebook and YouTube after you have finished so people can watch them after. Make short videos (two minutes or less) mostly but make longer ones too and let your lives streams be longer especially if you have a nice crowed going. Prepare ahead of time some things to show and talk about. Be prepared to go for an hour or so as the longer you are pushing content the more attention you can get. Have someone in advance ready to help you out maybe do a simple interview or product demonstration. Invite people to give their ideas especially customers and employees and then act on their suggestions. People want and need to know they are being heard, and live video is a crucial tool in your belt for that.
In summary, do not feel embarrassed to promote your business. Talk with people not at people. Listen to your customers and employees and enable them to spread the word about you company by being present on social media and encourage creativity and honesty. Honesty is in short supply right now, so be the difference, be real. Do not be afraid to make mistakes or even fail at something – hey no one was born walking – we all had to learn, fall and get up and try again. Check out your competition and see what they do well and find ways to do it better!
